STATES SECURITY INCIDENCES_
BAYELSA ·         On 03rd October. 2024, the Bayelsa State High Court, Amassoma /Oporoma Division, sitting in Yenagoa, has reportedly sentenced a. Man, Daniel Amaso, to life imprisonment for raping a 17 -year-old pre-degree student at the Niger Delta University in Amassoma. Justice Christine Kombo-Enegesi of the Amassoma /Oporoma High Court sitting in Onopa, Yenagoa, charge number OHC/3C/2022 between state ns d convict, Amaso, was charged with rape, armed robbery and grievous harm.
BENUE

·         On 1st October. 2024, report has it that gunmen reportedly killed a 45-year-old internally displaced person (IDP) at his farm along Tse Ukume Road in Mbachohon Council Ward of Gwer West of Benue State. The deceased identified as Tali Tyosoo. The Police Spokesperson Benue State Command, SP Catherine Anene, did not respond to calls or text messages as at the time of filing this report.

·         On 03rd October. 2024, credible information has it that armed invaders have reportedly killed two soldiers, a village head, and six other residents in Egwuma, Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State. A villager, who preferred anonymity confirmed the attack, said the incident happened around 1600/1500hrs when the armed invaders attacked.

EDO

·         On 01st October. 2024, operatives of the command’s ANTI-Kidnapping Unit, through painstaking tech-driven investigation arrested four suspects for allegedly snatching a Toyota Highlander. The State Commissioner of Police, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, confirmed the arrest, said three of the suspects, Ifeanyi Okpara (26), Dennis Okosun (25) and Edwin Iruogbe (27) snatched the vehicle with registration numbers RBC 66 AQ, at Ekpaoma. He said the suspect sold the vehicle to the fourth suspect, Shehu Ismail (25), for N1.5 million.

·         On 03rd October. 2024, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a couple identified as Mr. And Mrs. Inebo and one other around 1900hrs on Fugar axis, Etsako Central LGA of Edo State. Source said police and hunters in the area are currently combing the bush with a view to rescuing the victims.

KADUNA

·         On 1st October 2024, credible information has it that soldiers apprehended two suspected bandits while receiving treatment at a private clinic in Kachai LGA, Kaduna State. A community leader in the area who preferred anonymity said the bandits sustained bullets wounds during the raid, adding that a commercial cyclist that took the bandits to the clinic was also arrested.

·         On 2nd October. 2024, report has it that suspected hoodlums abducted three herders alongside four women while returning from SCC village market in Kachai LGA of Kaduna State. A community leader who preferred anonymity in the area, confirm the abduction. the spokesman for the Kaduna State Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comment on the incident.

·         On 03rd October. 2024, intelligence gathering has it that soldiers have gunned down a suspected bandit while attempting to evade arrest at Jere Kaduna State. A community leader who preferred anonymity confirmed the incident.

·         On 03rd October. 2024, it was gathered that soldiers arrested two bandits informant while recovering some rustled cows at Kurmin-Kare village in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State. A community leader who confirmed the arrest, said the two bandits informants were arrested at SSC village market in the area.

KANO ·         On 03rd October. 2024, information has it that the Nigerian Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) paraded a suspect identified as Yusuf Isah, in Kano State for being in possession of substances suspected to be hard drugs.
KWARA

·         On 2nd October. 2024, credible information has it that gunmen killed Chief Lukman Balogun, a prominent vigilante commander, during a rescue operation to save three Fulani women who were abducted from Igbaja community, Ifelodun LGA of the State. Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, confirmed the incident, said a combined team of military, police and vigilante members is in current searching of the forest around Igbaja and Oke-Ode for the victims, DSP Tonu Ejire -Adeyemi, the spokesmen for the police command, confirmed the unfortunate incident.

 

LAGOS

·         On 1st October. 2024, Police detectives from the Orile Division, Lagos State, nabbed a wanted member of an armed robbery gang while on his way for another operation. The suspect identified as Theophilus Timothy 23-year-old, was arrested by the patrol officer. Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Public Relation Officer, confirmed the arrest, said a locally made pistol, cartridges and a motorcycle with reg no LUY 81 QM recovered.

·         On 1st October. 2024, report has it that, the Lagos State Police Command has commenced trail of four Policemen allegedly to have extorted the sum of N1 million from three members of the National Youth Service Corp in Surulere area of the state. Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer, confirmed the development. said the men have been summoned and their trail has commenced.

·         On 03rd October. 2024, it was gathered that 10 persons, lost their lives when a Toyota Sienna bus ran into a stationary truck at Abule Osun, inward Iyana Iba, along the Lagos- Badagry expressway. The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolun, confirmed the incident, He said the LASEMA activated its Dolphin Response Team from the Igando Base.

NIGER ·         On 03rd October. 2024, it was gathered that the boat, which had about 300 people on board capsized, just a short distance from the victims’ destination. At least 36 persons were reportedly buried at the Gbajibo Community in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State while 20 bodies recovered. The Director General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah, confirmed the boat mishap.
YOBE ·         On 2nd October. 2024, information has it that a police inspector Mohammed Bulama, attached to the Police Mobile Force (PMF), 41 Division, Damaturu in Yobe State, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a suspected drugs dealer identified as Abdulmalik Pompomari, over N200 bribe, which led to his death around CMC Area, Zango area of Damaturu. The State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the state commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, has ordered the investigation into the homicide incident.
FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY (FCT)

·         On 2nd October 2024, two passengers lost their lives while eight others sustained degree of injuries after a bus crash at Gida -Buyi along the Abuja- Lokoja highway. An eyewitness who preferred anonymity who confirmed the incident, said the injure passengers were rushed to the hospital by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

·         On 04th October. 2024, following a raid on a kidnapers’ den in Gauraka Forest, Suleja Niger State, by the operatives of the FCT Police Command in Abuja, four suspected notorious kidnapers have been arrested and four AK-47 rifles, 13 Ak-47 magazines rifles, and 162 rounds of 7.6mm live ammunition recovered. The FCT Police Commissioner, Tunji Disu, disclosed this while parading the four suspects’ kidnappers at the command in Abuja.
