CGL Security Briefs: Week Ended 11th April, 2025
BENUE
• On 7th April 2025, police operatives in Benue State rescued 14 passengers on board that links bus attacked by gunmen while travelling from attacked by gunmen while traveling from Makurdi to Otukpo. The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Catherine Anene, added that 14 rescued with one confirmed dead because of the inflicted on him by the abductors.
• On 11th April 2025, following a mid night attack carried out by alleged armed invaders left at least three people dead in Mbasombo community of Gwer East Local Government Area in Benue State. armed invaders simultaneously launched the attacks night in three hamlets Mbasombo community, residents confirmed the attack.
BORNO
• On 7th April 2025, intelligence driven reported that suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched a deadly attack on Izge village in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State around 0100hrs, leading to a fierce battle that claimed the lives of two soldiers, including a Captain and a Corporal while many insurgents were also reportedly killed.
• On 7th April 2025, information has it that, a fire outbreak claimed the lives of two individuals and displaced residents across five include, Walori, Sarari, Duwuri, Dumfari, and Alau area of Konduga Local Government Area, Borno State. The incident, which occurred around 0930hr, left about 1,000 thatched houses in ruins, with residents unable to recover any of their belongings.
EDO
• On 10th April 2025, credible gathering has it that operatives of the Edo State Police Command apprehended two suspects in connection with the death of 14-year-old boy identified as Okonkwo Obinna Emmanuel, following an alleged failed attempt to fortify himself with ritual against bottles.
KANO
• On 10th April 2025, following a credible intelligence gathering, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano command arrested five suspected vandals in the state. The Public Relation Officer of the command, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, disclosed the arrest.
KATSINA
• On 8th April 2025, at least six people killed and about 59 others abducted in separate attacks across communities in Katsina State by armed bandits wielding sophisticated weapons and riding on motorcycles stormed the community in large number. The Chairman of Dandume LGA, Basiru Musa, confirmed the incident.
• On 11th April 2025, intelligence driven reported that armed bandits attacked Mahuta town in Kafur LGA of Katsina State, shooting a Shari’a Court Judge, Rabiu Mahuta in the hand and his son, injured three others and kidnapped 13 others.
KEBBI
• On 7th April 2025, credible gathering has it that the Lakurawa terrorist group killed 13 members of a vigilante group as they attacked Morai community in Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State. A resident Malam Ibrahim Augie confirmed the terrorists attacked killing 13 vigilante members.
• On 9th April 2025, in another attacked, suspected members of the Lakuraawa armed group killed two fisherman and a famer in an attack on sanyinna village in Tangaza LGA of the state. The Special Assistant on Security to the Tangaza Council, Garrzali Raka, confirmed the incident.
KWARA
• On 9th April 2025, suspected gunmen reportedly invaded the Istijaba Village off-campus student hostel of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) in Unguwar Jeji, Kalgo LGA of Kebbi State, abducting one students Augustine Madubiya (23) and killing one person. The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed.
LAGOS
• On 7th April 2025, following proactive processing of credible intelligence, operatives of a Special Operations Unit (SOU) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested two brothers, John Abugu (43) and Kenneth Abugu (32), at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja Lagos, with 5kgs of cocaine concealed in walls of their suitcases while attempting to board a flight to India.
• On 8th April 2025, intelligence driven has it that police operative in Lagos State detained a man for allegedly beating his 27-year-old daughter to death. The spokesman of the command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed.
NIGER
• On 11th April 2025, report has it that many passengers, mostly traders, died when their boat carrying over 200 passengers capsized in the River Niger along the Lapai axis of Niger State. The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba Arah, confirmed the accident.
ONDO
• On 9th April 2025, credible gathering has it that four farmers reportedly killed by armed herders in the thirteen-thirteen farming settlement in the Ajagbusi area of Ala Elefosan, Akure North LGA of Ondo State. The Police Public Relation Officer in the stat, Alayande Olayinka, confirmed the attack.
PLATEAU
• On 7th April 2025, intelligence driven reported that gunmen targeted several communities-Ruwi, Mangor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai leaving behind a trail of death and destruction, casualty figures resident claim at least 52 people were killed, with many others injured or still missing and many villages destroyed. President Bola Tinubu condemned the killings and assured Governor Mutfwang of support.
YOBE
• On 8th April 2025, five people confirmed dead and 19 others injured after a Toyota bus ploughed into pedestrian at the Damagum weekly market along the kano-Maiduguri Expressway in Yobe State. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in the state confirmed the incident.
FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY (FCT)
• On 7th April 2025, following a credible gathering, four people reportedly lost their lives, while five others were injured when a driver of an articulated vehicle lost control after a brake failure and crashed at tipper garage junction of Dutsen along the Dutsen-Bwari highway in the Federal Capital Territory. The unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in charge of the Dutsen-Alhaji, Luka Wuna Friday, confirmed the accident.
• On 8th April 2025, a trailer reportedly failed brake while descending the Usuma Dam Hill and crushed at least five vehicles and two tricycles that were passengers by the traffic light at the junction. The unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in charge of Dutsen-Alhaji, Luke Wuna Friday confirmed that one person died at spot with many injured victims rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital.
• On 11th April 2025, report has it that six people reportedly killed while four sustained injuries in separate accidents that occurred along the Abuja-Lokoja highway. The officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the accident.
