STATES
SECURITY INCIDENCES_
BAYELSA ·         On 11th October. 2024, the Nigerian Navy’s ongoing Operations Delta Sanity destroyed 124 illegal oil refining sites and arrested 55 suspected oil thieves, deactivation of 116 wooden boats, 543 dugout pits, 64 storage tanks and seizure of equipment used in the construction of illegal refineries in the Niger Delta. Rear Admiral Samson Bura, the Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command, briefed this in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
BORNO ·         On 09th October. 2024, following Boko Haram ambushed on military convoy in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, at least five persons including a village head were reported killed. Effort to get official reaction from the military high command, the director, Defence Media Operations Major Generals Edward Buba regarding the incident proved abortive as that the time of filling this report.
DELTA

·         On 08th October. 2024, Operatives of the Delta State Police Command said it’s neutralized Benson Oghenevwaire, 34, who was allegedly involved in the killing of Prince Eric Takerere, the son of Urhowhrun monarch alongside two police escorts at Effurun-Sapele road. The command spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, acknowledged the development, said the suspect was also involved in the robbery at Wetland Microfinance Bank in Udu LGA.

·         On 08th October. 2024, gallant operatives of the Delta State Police Command neutralized three suspected kidnappers who killed two mobile policemen in a failed attempt to abduct the wife of a lawmaker In the State House of Assembly. The spokesman of the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in Asaba, said the suspects killed Mr. Daniel Imela, the driver to the lawmaker’s wife, he added four AK-47 rifles and vehicle were recovered from the suspects.

EDO ·         On 11th October. 2024, operatives of Edo State Police Command arrested three suspects identified as Friday Peter (32), Gabriel City (43), and Charles Aihkhieobare 41, at Irue and Egbeiri communities in the state over illegal possession of arms and cultism. The command’s spokesmen, Moses Yamu, confirmed the Arrest, said one Beretta Pistol, one locally made revolver gun and two single barrel guns.
KADUNA

·         On 07th October. 2024, information has it that gunmen attacked the Kachia Urban Community, the assailants reportedly arrived around 2130hrs abducting nine people. A resident, Hamza Idris, a resident, confirmed the incident.

·         On 07th October. 2024, intelligence gathering reported three suspected bandits gunned down by soldiers following a raid on the bandits hideout, rescuing 7 seven captives at Kurmin-Kare village in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State. A community leader confirmed the rescue of seven abducted victims.

·         On 10th October. 2024, four people reportedly died in a road accident that occurred around 1300hrs when a trailer transporting electronic goods from Onisha in Anambra State to Katsina State plunged into a stream near Rigachikun town along Kaduna-Zaria highway.  The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Kaduna, Kabiru Nadabo, confirmed the accident, describing it as devastating.

KANO

·         On 08th October. 2024, information has it that seven persons have been confirmed death and about a dozen others hospitalized following a suspected cholera outbreak in Kanye Village of Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State. Hafiz Ali Baba, chief sanitation officer in the area who confirmed the cholera outbreak, noted that they have already directed the residents to stop using water from the suspected well.

·         On 11th October. 2024, report has its operatives of Kano State Police Command apprehended 3 suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of a 32-year-old man, Dahiru Musa. SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, disclosed this while parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

·         On 11th October. 2024, information has it that a Federal High Court sitting in Kano State has sentenced Zuhier R. Akar, 67-year-old, a Lebanese National, to 14-years imprisonment for the offence of trafficking and procuring two minors whom he sexually exploited. Justice S.M Shu’aibu sentenced Akar to 14 years imprisonment without the option of fine as well as payment of additional fine of N2 million for the two offences.

KATSINA

·         On 10th October. 2024, following an invasion by armed bandits in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, at least 11 people reportedly killed while several others injured and abducted residents from various communities.  Residents expressed their growing frustration, lamenting that bandits have made it nearly impossible to safely harvest crops.

·         On 10th October.2024, Usamatu Adamu, the village head of unguwan Tambai, Runka in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, has been arrested for allegedly providing information to bandits. ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, disclosed this while parading 15 suspected criminals in Katsina.

KEBBI ·         On 08th October. 2024, bandits reportedly attacked Kanya, a community in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing one person, three others suffer gunshots, abducting the District Head, Alhaji Isah Daya, along with seven others. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the attack. Said combined security team, has launched a manhunt to rescue the abducted individuals and apprehended the assailants.
KOGI

·         On 09th October. 2024, report has it that a housewife, identified as Barkisu Suleiman, has been apprehended at Karaworo-Lokoja by the residents of the area for reportedly throwing her newly born baby into a gutter. The Kogi Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Paul Igweibuke, confirmed the arrest of Barkisu, saying, ” She is in our custody and investigation is in progress.

·         On 09th October. 2024, credible intelligence gathering has it that the police operatives arrested a 19-year-old man, Abba Yusuf who allegedly in collaboration with his brother Aminu Yusuf and one Hajiya Jummai, killed their 60-year-old father Alhaji Dahiru Yusuf, in the Sarkin-Noma area of Lokoja, Kogi State Capital. The state Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Williams Aya, confirmed the arrest.

LAGOS

·         On 07th October. 2024, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reportedly arrested a 41-year-old Canadian lady, Adrienne Munju, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja, Lagos for importing large consignment of ‘Canadian loud’, a strong strain of synthetic cannabis. The spokesman for the agency, Femi Babafemi confirmed the interception.

·         On 07th October. 2024, credible intelligence gathering has it that Homicide detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have taken into custody a 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, for allegedly stabbing his newly wedded wife, Olajumoke, 25, to death in the Ikorodu area of Lagos. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest incident.

·         On 08th October. 2024, credible report has it that two suspected members of notorious cult gang, Alimi Abdurasak 18, and the Eniola Shamsideen, 18, have been arrested by the police operatives while on a mission to avenge the killing of a member by rival gang in the Agege area of Lagos. Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, said two axes and two bottles were recovered from the suspects.

·         On 09th October. 2024, five persons are still missing while 20 others were rescued from the boats mishap which occurred when two commercial boats collided at Imore town a riverine community in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State. The General Manager of Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Confirmed the accident involving two vessels “Only God 13” and a wooden boat.

·         On 09th October. 2024, detectives from the Elemoro Police Station of the Lagos State Police Command arrested a 32-year-old man, Wahaab Ibrahim, for allegedly defiling his neighbours 4-year-old niece. The command’s spokesmen SP, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest.

·         On 10th October. 2024, information has it that rescuers, including the marine unit of the Nigeria Police Force and local volunteers, recovered three   more bodies from the mishap that occurred in the Imore waterside area of Lagos. Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the recovery of the three more bodies by the rescue team.

·         On 11th October. 2024, the 81 Division of the Nigeria Army in Lagos confirmed the arrest of a soldier from Ojo Cantonment involved in the killing of a policeman identified as Saka Ganiyu in the state which occurred near the Volks Bus Stop along Ojo Iyana Iba Road. Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Deputy Director of Army Public Relations For the 81 Division, expressed the army’s regret over the incident. Added that the soldier has been apprehended and handed over to the Military Police for investigation and disciplinary action.

NIGER ·         On 08th October. 2024, suspected phone snatchers have attacked a young man, Abdulmultalib Sadiq to death and went away with his phone along Old Secretariat Road, Minna Niger State Capital round 2000hrs. Alhassan Mohammed, friend to the disease confirmed the incident, and said he was stabbed several times by his assailants.
OGUN ·         On 07th October. 2024, information has it that the Police in Ogun State have revealed how a suspected serial rapist, Philip Ogunnaike, raped three women, Akinsanya Habiba (18), Abigail Dina (22), and Mary Ogunyemi (23), killed them and dumped their corpses in different locations in the state. The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the evil act, described the suspect as an animal in human clothing.
ONDO ·         On 10th October. 2024, five persons including a grandmother and her four grandchildren, have died in circumstances suspected to be food poisoning in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State. The Head of the family, who simply identified himself as Egumjobi, confirmed the unfortunate incident.
PLATEAU ·         On 07th October. 2024, information has it that many houses have been reportedly destroyed by flood in some communities of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State following a downpour in area. Yintim Yohanna Nimilam, Community Development Secretary of Sabon Gida, confirmed the unfortunate incident.
RIVERS ·         On 07th October. 2024, following a tip-off on oil theft around the SIAT Farm, Elele in Ikwerre LGA of River State, the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army has said its troops have deactivated over 15 Illegal refining sites, arrested 10 suspects, dismantled over 30 cooking pots and confiscated over 115,000 liters of stolen products in various operations conducted in the Niger Delta region.
ZAMFARA ·         On 08th October. 2024, Armed bandits reportedly ambushed around0800 and killed 8 personnel of the Zamfara State Community Guard (CPG) at a checkpoint near Tsafe Town. The Commander General of the Zamfara CPG B. Muhammad (rtd), confirmed the incident.
FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY (FCT)

·         On 07th October. 2024, report has it that a cyclist has been crushed to death by a hit and run vehicle at a Pai Junction, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway. A witness, said it happened around 1716hrs when the cyclist was crossing the highway without watching properly in which an over-speeding vehicle coming from Gwagwalada, ran over him, while the driver sped off the without stopping, saying the remains of the cyclist have been evacuated by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and deposited at the Kwali General Hospital morgue.

·         On 10th October. 2024, information has it that a 50 -Year-old farmer, identified as Ezekiel Yakubu has been reportedly hacked to death by suspected herders at Tungan Sarki Community in Dafa ward of Kwali Area Council of the FCT. The incident was confirmed by Danjuma Moses, a relation of the deceased.

·         On 10th October. 2024, a 46-year-old man, identified as Bashiru Alhassan was arrested by vigilantes for allegedly buying stolen transformers cables from hoodlums at Kuchiyako in the Kuje Area Council of the FCT. It was confirmed by a member of the vigilant, simply identified as Ishaku, said the man was arrested around 1723hrs.
