STATES
SECURITY INCIDENCES_

ANAMBRA

·         On 19th November. 2024, intelligence gathering reported four members of the Anambra Vigilante Service (AVS) were killed by gunmen in Ukpo, Dunukofia LGA and In Abatete, Idemili North LGA. The Police Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

BENUE

·         On 19th November. 2024, suspected cultists reportedly killed a soldier and three civilians in North Bank area of Makurdi metropolis in Benue State. The Commander of a local vigilante group known as Operation Shara (Sweep) in North Bank, Nura Umar acknowledged the incident.

·         On 19th November. 2024, information has it that Gunmen suspected to be cultists gunned down a driver around the popular Lafia garage T-junction in the North Bank area of Makurdi metropolis in Benue State. witnesses, who attributed the incident to suspected cultists, said it incident happened around 1200hrs.

·         On 21st November. 2024, following an intelligence gathering five persons arrested by police operatives in Benue State for allegedly robbing passengers travelling from Calabar in Cross River State to Abuja along the Makurdi-Lafia highway. The Police spokesperson in the state, SP Catherine Anne, confirmed the arrest.

·         On 22nd November. 2024, police in Benue State apprehended 14 persons following their involvement in cult activities at the North Bank metropolis of Makurdi, the state capital. The Commissioner of Police, CP Steve Yabnet, confirmed the arrest while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Makurdi during a press conference, said detectives deployed to the scene of a murder for investigation unraveled the hideout of the suspects.  

BORNO

·         On 20th November. 2024, credible intelligence gathering has it that 5 soldiers were reported killed, ten wounded and four declared missing, destruction of equipment, including one gun truck, three TCVs and an excavator during an attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists targeting troops engaged in Stabilisation operations in Gubio Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State. The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, acknowledged the incident, and added that over 30 terrorists were eliminated.

EDO

·         On 18th November. 2024, credible intelligence gathering has it that operatives of Police Command paraded 23 suspects over alleged involvement in crimes and criminalities in the state.  The Commissioner, Umoru Ozigi, confirmed the arrest, said significant items recovered from the suspects to include nine Pump Action guns, three single Barrel guns, three single Barrel guns, two fabricated Beretta pistols, and three fabricated Berretta pistols, and three fabricated cut-to- size guns, 82 live cartridges, one Lexus ES 330 Vehicle among others recovered.

EKITI

·         On 20th November. 2024Credible information has it that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ekiti State confirmed it recorded 13 fatalities resulting from 64 road traffic crashes in 2024. The   Sector Commandant, Mr. Joseph Olusola said 164 individuals sustained injuries between January and September this year.  He acknowledged it at a conference in Ado-Ekiti to mark the 2024 Road Traffic Crash (RTC) Victims Remembrance Week.

KADUNA

·         On 18th November. 2024, report has it that armed bandits stormed Kasangwai village around 2043hrs, shot dead a Vigilante member and abducted four family members in Kasangwai, Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State. A community leader who preferred anonymity confirmed the incident.

·         On 18th November. 2024, three suspected bandits’ corpses reportedly set ablaze by a mob at Kurmin-Kare village in Kachia LGA of the Kaduna State. The Spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansir, was yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filling the report.

·         On 20th November. 2024, intelligence gathering has it that at least 50 insurgents believed to be members of the Boko Haram terrorists group have been eliminated by gallant personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) monitoring team for the National Grid Installation after a gun battle in Farin-Kasa, Chukun LGA of Kaduna State. The Spokesman of the Corps, Babawale Afolabi, confirmed the development and added that the incident occurred at about 1540 hours when the convoy of the special monitoring squad comprising of 9 officers and 71 other ranks drawn from the commandant General Special Intelligence Squad (CG SIS) Operatives FCT and Kaduna State Command were ambushed.

KANO

·         On 19th November. 2024, credible information has it that operatives of the Kano State Police Command apprehended a man identified as Abdullahi Kwanar Jaba who allegedly stole a mobile phone from the judges chamber of a Federal High Court on Miller Road Nasarawa LGA of Kano State.

·         On 20th November. 2024, information has it that a young man identified as Yusuf Garba (35) from Butu Butu town in Rimin Gado LGA of Kano State, has reportedly stabbed himself to death with a knife. The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident, called on the public to desist from any act of capable of costing them lives.

KOGI

·         On 22nd November. 2024, report has it that a 13-year-old girl, Ummu Salma, a Junior Secondary School Student in Angyigba, Dekina LGA of Kogi State has been allegedly beaten to death by her classmates in the school compound. The deceased’s stepmother, Akagwu Gbelema Halimat Umar, confirmed the incident, said the girl was killed by her fellow students under questionable circumstances in the school compound.

LAGOS

·         On 18th November. 2024, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) thwarted attempts by drugs syndicates to export large consignments of cocaine, methamphetamine and opioids through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja Lagos State. Femi Babafemi, spokesman of the NDLEA, acknowledged the development.

·         On 22nd November. 2024, following a credible gathering at the Murtala Mohammed Area Command of the Nigeria Customs in Ikeja, 250 pieces of live turtles, 50 pieces of drones 175 pieces of military helmets, with 23 pieces of Walkie-talkies incepted, allegedly being smuggled into the country by those referred to as criminal elements.

NIGER

·         On 22nd November. 2024, report has it that corpse of a newly born baby girl has been reportedly found at the old market area of Paikoro LGA of Niger State. no immediate response from the police on the incident. One of the residents, Musa Danjuma, confirmed the incident, said the remains had been buried by the residents of the area.

 

PLATEAU

·         On 19th November. 2024, credible information has it that property worth millions of naira destroyed by fire outbreak at the Laranto Market of Jos North LGA of Plateau State. Alhaji Idris Shehu, Chairman of the market confirmed the incident. He acknowledged that the inferno engulfed goods worth millions of naira, adding that its cause was still unknown.

·         On 20th November. 2024, following an intelligence gathering, troops of Operations Safe Haven, a multi security force maintaining peace in Plateau and some parts of Kaduna and Bauchi States apprehended suspected gunrunners and recovered arms, ammunition and three motorcycles and one Jack knife at Kwanan Fulani in Jos South LGA in Plateau State. Major Samson Zhakom, spokesperson of the operation, confirmed the development while parading the suspects.

RIVERS

·         On 20th November. 2024, following an intelligence gathering, the Rivers State Police Command said it’s operatives have recused a kidnapped victim at the Oyigbo axis of the state. The command public relation officer SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed in Port Harcourt the State Capital.

SOKOTO

·         On 20th November. 2024, information has it that twenty-five people confirmed dead as a result of a gastroenteritis outbreak in 18 local government areas of Sokoto State. Dr. Abdulganiyu Yusuf, the Director, Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Health, Sokoto State, confirmed the outbreak and said that rescue teams were deployed to manage the situation and curtail the spread of the outbreak.

TARABA

·         On 18th November. 2024, troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo, Taraba State, apprehended a suspect who confessed to abducting 20 individuals and extorting N70 million in ransom. The Acting Assistant Director of Public Relations for the brigade, Captain Oni Olubodunde, acknowledged the development.

·         On 19th November. 2024, report has it that kidnappers reportedly killed a farmer identified as Alhaji Mai Wanda Maibulta, adducted 6 other persons in Garbatau, a village in Bali LGA of Taraba State. A resident of Maihula town, Adamu Dauda, confirmed the incident.

ZAMFARA

·         On 18th November. 2024, credible intelligence gathering has it that scores of terrorists including kingpins, Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule neutralized, who were planning to attack some residents of Babban Kauye village, Located on Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State bombed have been bombed by military.

FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY (FCT)

·         On 19th November. 2024, two people were killed and 11 other passengers sustained injuries in an accident near Chikara village along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway. An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who was part of the rescue team confirmed the accident, which he attributed to tyire burst, over loading/speeding. Said two corpses were deposited at Abaji General Hospital morgue while 11 injured passengers were receiving treatment at the same hospital.

·         On 20th November. 2024, report has it that a woman and two children were burnt to death after the bus they were traveling in burst into flames at Manderegi village, near Abaji, along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway.  The FCT Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Muta’ah Chorrie, confirmed the incident. He blamed the driver for carrying jerrican loaded with fuel in the bus alongside passengers.

·         On 20th November. 2024, following an intelligence gathering, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command, apprehended five suspected vandals and impounded a truck loaded with stolen rods and communication infrastructure and assets. The Commandant NSCDC, Dr. Olusola Odumosu disclosed this while parading the suspects at the headquarters of the FCT Command of the NSCDC.
