Ø  On 07th May.  2024, a 65-year-old woman Mrs. Martha Umenweke, has been arrested for allegedly inflicting injuries on her 19-year-old house help, Chidiebere Otenyi, after accusing her of stealing N25,000.00 in the Ezinifite area in the State. Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, said, “The culprit won’t go Scot free since she had the mind to inflict pain on another person, “adding the case had been handed over to the Police.

Ø  On the 07th May. 2024, armed gunmen invaded the family residence in Enen-Atai village, Itu LGA of the state and abducted a four-month-old baby at gunpoint. Mr. & Mrs. Udeme Eyo, parents of the baby appealed to security agencies to assist in the recovery of their child. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Timfon John, confirmed the incident, stating that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators and reunite the child with his family.


Ø  On 09th May. 2024, yet-to-be-identified armed men attacked Father Angus Fraser Memorial High School located at Adeke village in Makurdi metropolis of Benue State. The Director Social Communications, Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Very Revd. Fr. Moses Iorapuu, confirmed the incident and said they school had been closed to enable the authority to investigate the matter. He said the attackers were repelled by the gallant officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Ø  On 10th May. 2024, information has it that a Commander of Agro Ranger, sector of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Benue State has been killed by armed invaders in the Shaapera community of Gwer West LGA of the State.  NSCDC’s Public Relation Officer in the state, Superintendent of the Corps, Mike Ejelikwu, confirmed the death of the officer in Makurdi, said the regrettable incident would not deter the command from performing its constitutional mandate of providing security for every law-abiding citizen residing within Benue State.


Ø  On 06th May. 2024, the Nigeria Air Force (NAF), said the air component of Operation Hadin Kai and Whirl Punch in the Northeast killed many terrorists, destroyed seven gun trucks, weapons and mobility at Mandara Mountain. The Director, Public Relations and Information, NAF, AVM Edward Gabkwet, disclosed.


Ø  On 06th May. 2024, the Director, Public Relations and Information, NAF, AVM Edward Gabkwet, said that the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) carried out air strikes North of Arugbana and Temakiri in the Niger Delta, where illegal refining site were observed and destroyed. He said through this action, the capabilities of oil thieves to continually sabotage and destroy oil pipelines were minimized.

Ø  On 06th May. 2024, operatives of the Delta State Police Command, arrested a 45-year-old Chiemenam Adigwe, a native of Akpo community in Aguata LGA of Anambra, for producing fake alcoholic drinks. He was intercepted in a hideout in Bomadi LGA with over 100 bottles of Gordons, Chelsea, Eagle Schnapps and McDowell’s.  the State Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, confirmed the arrest.


Ø  On 07th May. 2024, armed gunmen invaded and killed the traditional ruler of the Umuihe Autonomous community, AKaeze in Iivo LGA of Ebonyi State, Umazi Ibo Ubani. The Coordinator of Akaeze Development Centre confirmed the incident. Police spokesperson in the state, Joshua Ukandu, while confirming the incident, said they have launched a manhunt for the assailants.


Ø  On06th May.  2024, the police in Edo State have arrested five women, Iziegbe Ogbodu (39), Jennifer Eboigbe (30), Naomi Ekhonetomwan (17), Lucky Endurance (16) and Blessing Lucky (15), over allegedly stripping another woman Christable Akhigbe naked over alleged phone theft and uploading her nude video Online.

Ø  On 06th May. 2024, men of the Edo State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have arrested a motorist, Lucky Omomeyen, for allegedly running away with an officer after his arrest for violating trafficking rules. The Sector Commander, Paul Okpe, confirmed the arrest.

Ø  On 07th May. 2024, information has it that the Operatives of the Edo State Police Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit of the Command, have arrested four suspects; Collins Edo Yusuf (27), Enoma Edebiri Enabulele (22), Agho Ehije (35) and Marauf Lasisi (48) for allegedly involved in cultism and armed robbery in the State. The State Police Commissioner, Funsho Adeboye, said the Suspects were arrested during township patrol along the New Benin-Lagos Road by Okhoro Junction, Benin City.

Ø  On 08th May. 2024, armed gunmen attacked and killed three staff members of Okomu Oil Palm Company, while they were working on the company’s plantation in Okumu community in Ovia Southeast LGA of Edo State. Company spokesman, Fidelis Olise, confirmed the incident, said the company had reported to the Police. Confirming the incident, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, said operatives had been deployed to the area to prevent further attacks.

Ø  On 09th May. 2024, operatives of the Edo State Police Command arrested a 26-year-old native doctor, Chukwuyem Jonah and two others over the alleged killing of Miss Faith Omodon, a 200-level student at Delta State University, Agbor, Delta State.


Ø  On 06th May. 2024, a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of two men, Kayode Seun and Godwin Festus, over conspiracy, fraud, cybercrime and bribing Police officer with N485,000.00 in Ikere-Ekiti. The Magistrate, A. O. Owoleso, ordered that hearing notice be served on the defendants through the officers of the correctional Centre.

Ø  On 10th May. 2024, eight suspected cult members arrested by the Rapid Response Squad in the State. The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, said that some suspected cult members from the Buccaneer Confraternity and Alora Sea Lord groups were conducting themselves in a manner that could cause a breach of peace on the Campus of Ekiti State University. Abutu said during the operation, some of the fleeing gang members fired gunshots at the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) conveying the RRS operatives and damaging their windscreen. 


Ø  On 06th May. 2024, three persons including a Polices Officer were killed by gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network, the Militant wing of the prescribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The security operatives, comprising personnel of the Nigeria Army and Police Invaded Iggah, a community in the Uzo-Uwani LGA of Enugu were the incident occurred and burned houses and shooting sporadically leading to one person dead in response. Festus Okonkwo, a counsellor in the area confirmed the incident. The PPRO, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, promised to issue a statement detailing what happened in the community. The spokesperson of the 82 Division of the Nigeria Army, Jonah Unuakhalu, promised to revert.

Ø  On 07th May. 2024, the Enugu State Police Command, confirmed two policemen and three members of the Neighbourhood Watch were killed during a crisis that erupted in Iggah community, Uzo-Uwani LGA of Enugu State.  The Enugu State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said the crisis was instigated by criminal elements harboured within the Iggah community. He said three suspects believed to be the masterminds behind the violence have been apprehended, with a manhunt underway for more suspects.


Ø  On 09th May. 2024, report has it that a little girl has been killed and 15 people injured following a windstorm which also destroyed over 100 houses and other properties worth millions of naira at the Ampate, Maitama, Nayi Nawa and Bagadaza located in Southern Bypass of Gombe metropolis in Gombe State.  The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) visited the area to assess the level of damage to aid those affected. 


Ø  On 07th May. 2024, bandits attacked the Ambe community in Arak Chiefdom, Sanga LGA of Kaduna State that left six people dead and eight others injured. Daniel Amos, the Lawmaker representing Jema’a/Sana Federal Constituency, issued a statement strongly condemning the attack. Meanwhile, ASP Mansur Hassan, the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, confirmed the attack, stating that five people were killed and one suspect apprehended.

Ø  On 07th May. 2024, the residents of Gogi, Angwar Bako, Marge, Tunburku, Bataro, Kayawa and Yuna in Giwa LGA of Kaduna State fled their homes due to the activities of bandiits in the area. Umar Auwal Bijimi, the representative of Giwa West Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, said that the exodus began after the removal of a dedicated and effective soldier, Sergeant Usman Hamisu Bagobiri, who played a crucial role in combating the banditry plaguing the area.

Ø  On 08th May. 2024, over 200 cows were rustled at Unguwar Jibo, near Katari village in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State. A resident, Kabiru Yahaya, said the incident happened around 5pm when sophisticated weapons attacked a Fulani camp. The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, SP Hassan Mansur, was yet to confirm the incidents.

Ø  On10th May. 2024, gunmen attacked a Viewing Centre in Idah, a community under Kagarko LGA in Kaduna State, Yaro Agaji and One Samuel, a mechanic, were killed by the bandits when they attempted to escape and abducted scores watching champion league match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.  ASP Mansur Hassan, the Public Relation Officer of the State Police Command, did not respond to the text message sent to him on the incident.

Ø  On 10th May. 2024, bandits invaded the residence of a medical doctor with the Katari General Hospital, Dr. Okindo, abducted three children at Anguwar Azalea, Kachia LGA of the Kaduna State. The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, SP Hassan Mansur, yet to react to the incident.


Ø  On 06th May. 2024, residents of Gwagwarwa Community in Nasarawa LGA of Kano State have demanded justice over the alleged killing of 23-year-old Yusuf Shuaibu by a military officer identified as Oga Aminu. The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, stated that Chief of Air Staff, Hassan Abubakar, had ordered a discreet investigation.

Ø  On 07th May, 2024. information has it that Jamilu Ibrahim, a resident of Zurmi LGA in Zamfara State, apprehended in Gano village, Warawa LGA of kano by the Department of Sate Service (DSS), arraigned Ibrahim, before a Federal High Court in Kano for allegedly possessing 837 rounds of live ammunition and 4 rocket propelled grenades (RPG) chargers contravening the Firearms Act and Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act.

Ø  On 09th May, 2024. The Kano State Police Command in a Joint operation with Department of State Services (DSS), has arrested 17 suspected forex traders for engaging in illegal Breau De Change (BDC) operations. The arrest took place in Wapa, fagge Local Government Area of the State. CP Usaini Gumel, Commissioner of Police in Kano disclosed that 29 individuals were apprehended, but after investigation, 12 were cleared of illegal involvement in illegal activities. He said they recovered 68,000 CFA and 30 Rupees from the 17 forex hawkers during the operation.


Ø  On 10th May. 2024, information has it that the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), arrested one Prophet Olayinka Ajiboye (45) for allegedly defiling three minors from his church in Agah, Ilorin South LGA of the State. The Kwara NSCDC State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G Muhammed, expressed concern over the infamous act and directed a detailed investigation into the matter.


Ø  On 06th May. 2024, an international drug syndicate with networks in Nigeria, South Africa and Thailand has been smashed by the Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The identified suspects Umeh Chisom Peter, Mrs. Chiwendu Uche Ugbe with her South African based husband, Aloytus Uche Ugbe, Onyejakor Francis Chimezie and Naaji Valentine Chkwukere and Mrs. Chinazo Osigwe and her husband operating in South African Osigwe Chidiebere Anthony. Spokesman of the Agency, Femi Babafemi said five members of the cartel were arrested.  

Ø  On 07th May. 2024, the Police in Lagos arrested a member of a robbery gang, Samson Cletus, which specializes in snatching tricycles. He was arrested after he attacked a tricycle rider on Celestial Road, Igando, and was about to flee with the tricycle. Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Police spokesman confirmed the arrest. 

Ø  On 07th May. 2024, operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRs) of the Police have arrested 31 robbery suspects in black spots within the Yaba area. Lagos State Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the report, said the raid sequel to complaints from members of the public about the activities of criminals who waylaid passerby and robbed them of their belongings.

Ø  On 09th May. 2024, report has that two people confirmed dead and three other injured in another explosion that rocked the gas retail shop in the Abule Folly area of Ibeju-Lekki area Lagos State. Shops located near the scene of the incident were razed down by the ensuing fire. The Lagos Sate Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

Ø  On 10th May. 2024, officials of the Lagos State Neighbourhood and Security Corp (LNSC) apprehended a 46-year-old man, Friday Nwafor, for allegedly vandalising safety handrailing and streetlights on Third Mainland Bridge. 


Ø  On 10th May. 2024, the Nasarawa State Police Command arrested 13 suspected kidnappers and other criminals terrorising parts of the State. Mr. Shehu Umar Nadada, the Commissioner of Police, while parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Lifia, explained that all the suspects were arrested at their various hideouts.  


Ø  On 06th May. 2024, information has it that air strikes were conducted by air component of Operation Whirl Punch in a pre-emptive air strike over terrorists hibernating at Allawa Villages, near Shiroro town in Niger which killed many terrorists and destroyed their weapons. The Director, Public Relations and Information, NAF, AVM Edward Gabkwet, confirmed the success of the operation.

Ø  On 08th May. 2024, two men, Augustine Odiokwu Nonso (28) and Ahmed Mohammed (20) have been arrested by the police in Niger State for allegedly defrauding POS operators to the tune of N463,000. The Niger State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the arrest.


Ø  On 07th May. 2024, gunmen reportedly killed one person and abducted seven others along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway. The Police Spokesman in Ogun State, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident. Odutola said the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, had directed the tactical team and the mobile squad to go after the gunmen.

Ø  On 08th May. 2024, report has it that operatives of the Ogun Police Command Killed two suspected kidnappers terrorising travelers on the Sagamu -Ijebu Ode-Benin expressway during a clearance operation. The police also rescued three Indian nationals and recovered a total sum of N7.9 million and 1500 Indian Rupees, suspected to have been part of the ransom collected from previous victims. Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO), Omolola Odutola, said the operation was conducted with the support of local vigilantes.


Ø  On 07th May. 2024, suspected kidnappers stormed a church premises and abducted pastor’s wife and another member.  The commissioner of Police (CP) in the State, Abayomi Oladipo, confirmed the arrested five suspects namely, Garba Mumuni (27), Yusuf Tale (21), Kabiru Muhammed (16), Saibu Umar (22), and Adamu Muhammed (22). The pastor wife escaped from a kidnaper’s den after her abductors slept off following does of hard drugs and alert the security agency in Ondo State.

Ø  On 07th May. 2024, the Ondo State Police Command said its men has arrested on Adetokunbo Adesina, suspected to be a member of a gang hired assassins unleashing terror in the state. The Commissioner of Police in the State, Abayomi Oladipo, disclosed the arrest of Adesina in Akure.


Ø  On 07th May. 2024, the Police arraigned on Sameul Oyetayo (35) before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State for allegedly forging the Oyo State Government hackney permit and ticket. The offence contravened Section 467 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 200. The Magistrate, Mrs. Kausarat Ayofe granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,00.00 with two sureties in like sum. She adjourned the case until June 24th 20224, for hearing. 


Ø  On 10th May. 2024, four persons killed as gunmen attacked, leaving many others injured in Kayarda village, Namu District of Qua’an Pan LGA of Plateau State. The Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Qua’an Pan LGA, Christopher Audu Manship, confirmed the incident and expressed condolences to the affected community.


Ø  On 09th May. 2024, information has it that two siblings, Collins Ugorji and Newman Ugorji in community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA of the State, have been reportedly killed by members of a Vigilante Group in Rivers State known as OSPAC. The River State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed that the DPO of Omoku Police Division with his patrol team had visited the Idu community.


Ø  On 08th May. 2024, suspected gunmen invaded Piko community in Bwari Area Council of the FCT abducted 13 residents including a Pastor and Assistant Head Teache. The bandits called to demand N900 million, among other demands to release the victims. The FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, promised to make an inquiry on the incident.

Ø  On 10th May. 2024, report has it that a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada, Abuja, has sentenced a 28-year-old housewife, Faith Felix, who resides I Gosa Toge along airport road in the FCT, to eight months in prison for pouring hot water on her co-wife. The Senior Magistrate, N.A. Turkur, sentenced her to eight months imprisonment without the option of a fine, warned her to desist from committing such acts and be of good behaviour.
