STATES

SECURITY INCIDENCES_

ADAMAWA

·       On 24th July. 2024, following an intelligence gathering, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Adamawa State Command, apprehended a 24-year-old man Auwal Sale, over his alleged involvement in the vandalisation of a transformer and theft of insulating oil.  The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Ibrahim Mainasara, established that the suspect was found in possession of 10 jerry cans, with four of them containing insulation oil.

·       On 24th July. 2024, information has it that police operatives in Adamawa State arrested two suspects, Adamu Alhaji Bamu (35), and Manu Alhaji Bamu (32), from Kila village in Toungo LGA, for allegedly murdering Umaru, whom they accused of witchcraft. Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the police spokesman, confirmed the arrest and the suspects confessed to the crime.

AKWA IBOM

·       On 24th July. 2024, through reliable intelligence, the Police Command in Akwa Ibom State rescued 10 pregnant women from 56year-old suspects, Eunice Eze, who specialises in running a baby factory at World Bank Estate in Owerri. The commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, disclosed this at the command’s headquarters.

BAUCHI

·       On 26th July. 2024, operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command apprehended Aminu Muhammed, 30-year-old, over allegedly impersonating a Nigeria Army (NA) personnel for two years. The commands spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement. He said the arrest was made after a complaint was filed against the suspect, for collecting N210, 000 from an individual with the promise to enroll him into the army.

BENUE

·       On 23rd July. 2024, following the killing of 18 people in Mbachir Council Ward and Tse Shenge in Ukum Local Government Area, the Police command, in Benue State have killed three suspected bandits following intense gun battles in the Mbafyan area of Mbachir Council Ward and Tse Shenge in Ukum Local Government Area. The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene, disclosed in a statement.

BORNO

·       On 23rd July. 2024, report has it that a Police Sergeant, Sunday Wadzani, attached to the Borno State House of Assembly, has been apprehended over allegedly shooting and killing his father in Maiduguri. all Efforts to reach ASP Kenneth Daso, spokesman of the command, was abortive.

·       On 23rd July. 2024, information has it that the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, has handed over a rescued Chibok girl and 332 other individuals to the Borno State Government for rehabilitation. The Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai Major General Waheed Shuaibu, confirmed at a presentation at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri.

DELTA

·       On 25th July. 2024, report has it that operatives of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended two suspects, Abibu Haruna (37) and Sanusi Haruna (22), with 88 stolen iPhone and android phones. The PPRO of the Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest. He said the suspects who resided at Hausa Quarters, Warri were napped in possession of a bag containing 55 iPhones, one HP Laptop, two Android Tabs and 33 Android Phones.

EDO

·       On 22nd July. 2024, three suspects, Eyefia Godless (30), Imuetiyan Ewemade (30) and Emeka Okpja (20), were arrested by operatives of the Edo State Police Command for alleged involvement in cult related activities in the state. The command spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspects who are members of Maphite secret cult were sighted at Ubiaza Community, Off Sapele Road, Benin City having a clandestine meeting in other to avenge the killing of their member identified as Kokori.   

·       On 24th July. 2024, operatives of Edo State Police Command, apprehended four suspects identified as: Isioma Unwogo, (21), Godstime Imareigbe (32), Apeleokha Raymond (28) and Mutar Igie (30), for allegedly involving in cultism and being in possession of guns during a stop and search excise on the Benin-Auchi Road respectively. The command spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the arrest. 

·       On 26th July. 2024, report has it that a suspected kidnapper has been killed and two others injured during an operation in which an abducted pastor identified as Solomon Ativiel, was rescued by youths and hunters in Edo State. The Edo State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident, said the two injured suspects were in custody.

EKITI

·       On 26th July. 2024, information has it that the Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a 23-year-old man, Ajayi Sunday, before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates court over the alleged theft of a motorcycle.

KADUNA

·       On 22nd July. 2024, intelligence gathering has it that several bandits were reportedly killed, and several others escaped with bullets injuries following a raid on their camps in Kurutu and neighbouring Hayin -Dam forests, which borders Kagarko and Kachia LGAs of Kaduna State. Sama’ila, a vigilante from Kurutu, confirmed the development. He said the raid was carried out by the troops who engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle in the area.

In another development, On 23rd July. 2024, report has it that eight corpses suspected to be those of bandits were found after troops raided some forests at Kurutu village near Azzara in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State. A vigilante from Kurutu, simply identified as Abdullahi, confirmed the development, said the eight corpses were discovered around Hayin-Dam by some farmers in the area.

·       On 23rd July. 2024, police operatives in Kaduna State apprehended a suspect, Zahradeene Suleiman, with 30 fabricated vehicle keys in Kaduna metropolis. The spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest. He said “the suspects specialize in vehicle and motorcycle theft. 

·       On 26th July. 2024, vigilante’s operatives arrested a pickup driver and a herder over being in possession of two allegedly rustled cows at the SCC Village Market in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State. A community leader who confirmed the arrest, said the herder and the driver were arrested when they brought the cows to the market around 10 am to sell.

KANO

·       On 22nd July. 2024, report has it that Kano Police Command has launched investigation into a suspected kidnapping case at Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area involving a suspect caught with multiple bodies buried in his house.  A source has it that, the suspect is an Almajiri who came to the area and later ventured into kidnapping and killing so many innocent residents of whom their bodies were found in his house at Dawakin Kudu by security operatives.

·       On 25th July. 2024, operatives of the Department of state service in collaboration with Hisbah board apprehended a 17-year-old girl and an man in connection with the abduction of a four year old baby, Aisha from Nguru in Yobe state.

It was confirmed by the DSS of the arrest of the real kingpin in the abduction of children from around the neighbouring states to kano and other southern parts of the country.

KEBBI

·       On 24th July. 2024, information has it that a Hight Court in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, has sentenced one Jamilu Abdullahi to life in prison for raping an eight-year-old deaf girl, who lured the victim into an uncompleted building in Dan-Warai village in Aliero LGA where he sexually assaulted her. Justice Maryam Abubakar-Kaoje described the crime as heinous and betrayed the community trust.

KOGI

·       On 24th July. 2024, report has it that hoodlums, suspected to be armed robbers, reportedly attacked the hostels of the students at Federal University, Lokoja, injuring three and stealing money, 14 phones, laptops, school ID cards and other valuable. The Kogi State Police Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP Williams Aya, did not respond to calls and text messages to that effect.

·       On 26th July. 2024, many were feared to be killed after an articulated vehicle conveying a container which was suspected to have had a brake failure crushed two vehicles around 4pm at the Lokogoma Market in Lokoja, Kogi State. a witness at the scene shortly after the accident said the container which the trailer was conveying fell on the cars when the driver lost control shortly after the trailer caught fire.

KWARA

·        

LAGOS

·       On 22nd July. 2024, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), intercepted a 48-year-old one legged man Amadu Garba, in his house at Yawauri town, Kebbi State with six bags of cannabis weighting 67kg, Femi Babafemi, the spokesman for the agency, confirmed the arrest. 

·       On 23rd July. 2024, report has it that a middle-aged man has been arrested for allegedly producing adulterated sachet water whose factory is located inside the Oluwole market in Apapa area of Lagos State. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officers, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, saying that the production site has been sealed.

·       On 26th July. 2024, detectives from the Lagos State anti-crime outfit, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), napped 90 suspects in a midnight raid of some black spots in Obalende, Adeniji and Lagos Island metropolis. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Adegoke Fayoade, confirmed the arrest.  

NASARAWA

·       On 23rd July. 2024, four suspected motorcycle snatchers and transformers vandals identified as Abdul, Muhammed, Zakari and Suleiman, were apprehended and handed over to the police by the Ohinoyi of Ogye in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Muhammed Umar Azaki. The Ohinoyi of Ogye spokesman, Shuaibu Musa Kani, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

·       On 26th July. 2024, gunmen launched a deadly attack around 2am leading to five persons dead who were sleeping inside a Mosque in Katakpa community in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State. The Chairman of the LGA, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Tashas, confirmed the attack. 

NIGER

·       On 22nd July. 2024, report has it that gunmen said to be based in Apo Forest, in Tafa LGA in Niger State, raided Zhibi community and abducted four residents including a doctor and a traditional leader. According to a vigilante who preferred anonymity for security reasons said gunmen invade the community around 10pm abducted the residents.

·       On 26th July. 2024, a trailer coming from Kutigi has reportedly crushed a man, identified as Yanma, in front of Bida LGA Secretariat in the Masaba area of Bida Town. The Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kumar Tsukwam, confirmed the incident.

·       On 26th July. 2024, intelligence has it that security forces comprising the military and vigilantes have reportedly neutralised some bandits who were crossing in their large numbers from Kundu village to the Akare axis in Wushishi LGA when the military ambushed them. The Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi Mohammed (rtd), confirmed the incident.      

OGUN

·       On 24th July. 2024, suspected armed robbers invaded a students’ apartment at the Ogun State-Owned Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode. It was gathered that during their operation, they raped two 100-level female students. The police spokesperson in the state, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident.

ONDO

·       On 23rd July. 2024, the operatives of the Police Command in Ondo State have rescued travelers including some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) abducted by bandits along the Omi Alafa Road in Ifon, Ose Local Government of the State. The Police spokesperson in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said the victims were abandoned by the armed bandits in the forest after pressure from the police.

SOKOTO

·       On 22nd July. 2024, information has it that over 50 household displaced by a windstorm in Shagari and Wamakko LGAs of Sokoto State. The Director of Disaster Management in the state’s Ministry of State of Social Welfare and Humanitarian Affairs, Umar Isa, disclosed, he said some of the victims lost their homes completely and were now either staying with relatives or had relocated to other areas   

YOBE

·       On 23rd July. 2024, report has it that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Yobe State Command, has confiscated substances suspected to be Indian Hemp weighing 152.5 kilograms and arrested one Sale Bukar (39).   Ramatu Suma Badamasi, the command’s spokeswoman, confirmed the arrest. She added that, 303 blocks of the substances were confiscated in Geidam LGA.

FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY (FCT)

·       On 23rd July. 2024, information has it that the FCT Police Command has arrested the gang leader of some suspected armed robbers, Hashiru Marazu Bako, who allegedly killed a retired Brigadier General, Uwem Harold. The Commissioner of Police (CP), Benneth Igweh, confirmed the apprehension. He said the suspect escaped from the Kuje Correctional Facility during the Jail Break on May 22, 2024.

·       On 24th July. 2024, two people were killed, and eight other passengers were injured when a bus collided with a tricycle and somersaulted and crashed into a ditch on the Abaji-Toto Road in Abaji Area Council of the FCT. An official of the FRSC, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the accident, saying the victims were evacuated to the Abaji General Hospital.

·       On 23rd July. 2024, three suspected armed robbers were nabbed following an exchange of gunfire with police operatives at Jabi-Daki Biyu junction in Abuja, the nation’s capital. The Commissioner of Police (CP) FCT, Benneth Igweh, confirmed the incident when he paraded the suspects at the command headquarter.

·       On 25th July. 2024, report has it that suspected hoodlums killed a commercial motorcyclist, Ayuba Daniel, with a hammer and escaped with his motorcycle in Kwaku village in Kuje Area Council of the FCT. A vigilante officer, Barnabas Isaac, who confirmed the incident said the incident happened around 6pm.

·       On 25th July. 2024, 211 suspects, including scavengers, were apprehended by police operatives following a raid on some criminal hideouts in the FCT. The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Benneth Igweh, confirmed the arrest. He said four vehicles, 13 motorcycles, 12 Keke NAPEP, Knives, Daggers as well as quantities of substances suspected to be hemp and illicit drugs were recovered during the raids which was carriedout by men of Maitama, Iddo, Nyanya, Kubwa, Life Camp, Gwagwa, Durumi, Galadima and Mpape division.
