STATES
SECURITY INCIDENCES_

ANAMBRA

·         On 7th November.  2024, report has it that at least 22 miners are presumed dead following the collapse of a mining pit at an illegal mining located within a national game reserve spanning Gashaka Local Government Area of Adamawa State. A Tila village resident, who preferred anonymity disclosed that approximately 70 miners lost their lives in similar incident lasts year. The Adamawa Police Public Relation Officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Ngroje confirmed the pit collapses.

BAUCHI

·         On 05th November. 2024, intelligence gathering has it that operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command neutralized six suspected kidnappers in some villages and in the Burra Mountain area all situated within Ningi Local Government Area of the State. The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, confirmed the development, said operatives of the command engaged suspected kidnappers and recovered two Ak-47 rifles, one FNC rifles, one locally made single-barrel gun, 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, three magazines and 80 sheep.

·         On 05th November. 2024, operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have apprehended three suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of one Damina Lamba of Wuro Dangogo in Sarma village, Misau Local Government Area of the state of the alleged witchcraft. CP Muhammad confirmed the arrest.

·         On 06th November. 2024, report has it that a lifeless body of a two-year-old girl, who was suspected to be raped to death by yet-to-be identified person, was found in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The police spokesperson in the state, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the incident, and disclosed that the corpse was found near a mosque along Deneva Street, Ningi LGA of the state.

BENUE

·         On 04th November. 2024, intelligence report has it that the police operatives in Benue State apprehended five boys over their alleged involvement in internet fraud. SP Catherine Anne, the spokeswoman of the state Police Command, said the arrest was part of continuous efforts to sanitize the state against activities.

·         On 06th November. 2024, four people have been killed in a fresh cult clash at North Bank, a suburb of Makurdi metropolis in Benue State. The Commander of s local vigilante group known as Operation Shara (Sweep) in North Bank, Nura Umarc, confirmed the incident.

·         On 06th November. 2024, gunmen reportedly killed six people in another attack on Ayilamo village of Logo Local Government Area in Benue State. The Information Officer of Logo LG council Comrade Paul Tevkyaa, confirmed the attack, saying however that five people creeping back.

·         On 06th November. 2024, credible gathering has it that the people of Ukwonyo community in the Ufia Kingdom of Ado Local Government Area in Benue State have raised concern over ongoing attacks and harassment faced by women at the hands of armed invaders in their farmlands. The National Secretary of the Ufia Development Association (UDA), Comrade Jude Onwe, acknowledged the ongoing harassment and series of attacks, urging the federal and state government to intervene.   

·         On 7th November. 2024, suspected armed robber apprehended and beating to death by angry youths in the Modern Market area of Makurdi, Benue State. The suspect was apprehended in the act of stealing from a Pentecostal church located behind the market. The youths believed that the suspect was among those three notorious armed robber gangs terrorizing the area.

BORNO

·         On 04th November. 2024, seven loggers have Ben reportedly killed a d others wounded when they stepped on landmines in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. It was gathered that a pickup van transporting the loggers inadvertently drove over an improved explosive (IED) planted by insurgents. An eyewitness, Bukar Modu, confirmed the incident.

DELTA

·         On 7th November. 2024, operatives of the Delta State Police Command arrested five suspected members of cult group simply identified as Eremoje Dudun Oritsedere, aka (General),34, Emmanuel Irhurhu (29), Godstime Jacob (25), Ighene Jeffrey (29) and Iboyi Gain (33) in Oton community and Sapele town in the state. The spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the arrest, said an abandoned operational Toyota Corola with Reg No KWL 635 BU and Beretta Pistol loaded recovered.

EBONYI

·          

EDO

·         On 08th November. 2024, operatives of the Edo State Police Command apprehended four suspected armed robbers at a house in South Ivie, Etsako West LGA of Edo State. The State Police Commissioner, Umoru Ozigi, confirmed the arrest, he identified the suspects as Osakpolor Edobor (20), Oshoike Malik (23), Aliu Rabak (27) and Alor Ojo (24).

·         On 08th November. 2024, three farmers whose identifies are yet to be ascertained, have been reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be herders in Edo State. The Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council, Benedicta Attoh, confirmed the incident, laminated the spate of killings by herdsmen and militias that has continued unabated in the area.

EKITI

·         On 05th November. 2024, intelligence gathering has it that the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command apprehended one Akpan Ndatai (25) with over 500kg of cannabis sativa. The Commander, Dr. Paul Sosina, confirmed the arrest, said efforts were on to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

KADUNA

·         On 04th November. 2024, intelligence gathering has it that three bandits were reportedly gunned down while four farmers, including a woman were rescued as soldiers engaged bandits at Mai-Iddo village in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State. A community leader from the area, who confirmed the rescue following a raid on bandits hideout at a forest in Kurmin-Kare village.

·         On 06thNovember. 2024, Credible information reported that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said a road accident in Kaduna State claimed the lives of at least 484 people and left 2,327 injured from January to October 2024. Kabiru Yusuf, FRSC Sector Commander in Kaduna disclosed this at a briefing to launch the Ember Months Campaign in the state.

·         On 7th November. 2024, credible report has it that hunters discovered two corpses suspected to be those of the bandits that fled soldier’s onslaught at Kurmin-Kares’ Forest in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State. Three bandits were reportedly gunned down during a gun battle between them and the soldiers. The spokesperson of the state command, SP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comment on the incident.

KWARA

·         On 08th November. 2024, report has it that the police operatives in Kwara State apprehended suspects accused of beheading a motorcyclist in the Asunlere area of Oke-Oyi, Ilorin and stolen his machine, thereafter. The Police Commissioner, Victor Olaiye, confirmed the arrest, described the incident as “A horrific act of criminality.

LAGOS

·         On 06th November. 2024, yet to be identified driver of a commercial bus reportedly set himself and an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) on fire while trying to evade arrest. The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofig, confirmed the incident, saying the injured LASTMA staff was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

·         On 08th November. 2024, credible intelligence gathering has it that no fewer than 37 suspected drug traffickers were apprehended at the Tin-Can Island Port by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Tin- Can Island Port in Lagos State. The Commander of Narcotics, Tin-Can Island Special Command of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju. Confirmed the development.

NASARAWA

·         On 04th November. 2024, in a violent confrontation in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, reportedly left one soldier and one civilian dead, following an altercation involving a police officer and military personnel. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Nasarawa State, DSP Ranham Nansel acknowledged the incident, stating that only two fatalities occurred with two others receiving medical treatment.

·         Nasarawa

·         On 08th November. 2024, Intelligence gathering has it that several kidnappers have been reportedly killed after vigilantes and hunters engaged them in a gun duel at the Achido forest, borders FCT and Nasarawa State. Chairman of Toto LGA of Nasarawa State, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, confirmed the development. He added victims rescued too.

NIGER

·         On 06th November. 2024, intelligence gathering has it that police operatives in Niger State have rescued 23 kidnap victims. The police spokesman in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, acknowledged the success. He said 19 of the victims were passengers who had been kidnapped at Tegina-Zunheru road.

PLATEAU

·         On 04th November. 2024, information has it that a woman, Mrs. Mary Jonathan and son, Dickson Anthony have been killed at a house located in Hwollaza village of Jos North LGA of Plateau State. John Dauda, a resident of the community confirmed the incident.

·         On 06th November. 2024, intelligence gathering has it that troop attached to the Forward Operating Base (FOB) of Operation Safe Heaven, stationed in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, killed five bandits including their kingpin Kachalla Saleh. Residents of Wase, particularly Bashar District, commended the troops for the successful operations.

·         On 7th November. 2024, following a credible intelligence gathering, the operatives of the Plateau State Police Command apprehended two suspected Kidnappers who had abducted one Nijin John, a resident of Rantiya community of Jos south LGA of the State. The spokesperson of the command, DSP Alabo Alfred, confirmed this at the he divisional headquarters, he identified the suspects as Aminu Abdullahi (30)  and Suleiman Mohmmed (20).

RIVERS

·         On 06th November. 2024, a middle-aged man has reportedly died after a two-story building collapsed in Egbelu Mgbaraja Ogbogoro Community, Obio/Akpor LGA, River State. A witness, Jonathan Obey confirmed the incident, said the collapse occurred around 1400hrs while contractors were working on the second floor.

ZAMFARA

·         On 7th November. 2024, armed bandits reportedly abducted over 50 persons at Wanke of Gurusu and Gummi Local government Area of Zamfara State. Locals who confirmed the abduction, said the victims were abducted in wanke and environs while working on their farms, and three others along the Anka- Gurusu road in Anka Local Government Area of the State.

FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY (FCT)

·         On 04th November. 2024, credible information has it that a timber contractor, identified as Abdullahi and two others were reportedly kidnapped by gunmen at the Atako community in Kuje Area Council of the FCT. A resident of Atako, Saidu Gambo, confirmed the incident. Said the attack happened around 2337hrs when some gunmen welding sophisticated weapons, invaded the community.

·         On 05th November. 2024, information has it that a member of the vigilante group, identified as Mohammad Bala Shehu, slumped and died around 0847hrs in Abaji Area Council of the FCT. The chairman of the vigilantes in the area, Isah Mohammed, confirmed the death.

·         On 07th November. 2024, suspected hoodlums reportedly stabbed a commercial cyclist, simply identified as Saled Ibrahim, to death along the Paso-Paiko village in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT. A witness, who is a resident Samson Musa, confirmed the incident, said the hoodlums escaped with his motorcycle.

·         On 07th November. 2024, the Police Operatives Federal Capital Territory (FCT) paraded three suspected notorious armed robbers alongside car snatchers. CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the FCT police commissioner, who disclosed this while parading the suspects at the command in Abuja, said 13 stolen vehicles recovered.
